1833. 62pp. but lacking the half-title page. The book is illustrated with 4 of 5 listed wooduts (the frontispiece is missing). This is a scarce short story for children from the early part of the 19th century. It tells of ther adventures of a gander and a goose, who had numerous goslings. I have been unable to find any information about the author but it appears to be a revised version of an earlier tale published in 1813 and entitled 'The History of the Celebrated Nanny Goose'. This story has reminiscences of the story of the three little pigs and Grimm's The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids with the wisest of the goslings foiling the fox by building a home of bricks. The book is bound in the original green card covers with a red cloth spine. The book reflects its age and has been read by children and there is shelf wear with staining and soiling on the covers. The spine ends and corners are bumped and with small pieces missing from the cloth at the spine ends and creases around the corners of the cover. The contents are secure although as mentioned above the half-title page and frontispiece are missing. The pages are soiled and foxed as expected from a child's book of this age. There is a tear of about 2 1/2" on the title page that extends outwards form the spine and has been repaired on the reverse. The woodcut illustrations have been coloured by hand, but probably by a moderately talented child and not the publisher. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers VIChild030
