The first deals with the months of January and February 1880 and gives a brief synopsis of the situation in each county, divided into baronies, along with correspondence received for the two months, many of the letters from various clergymen. It also includes a fold-out map of Ireland (approx 34cm x 26cm), shaded according to the intensity of the distress. This map had parted in places along the crease lines - closed with archival tape. This booklet lacks its original wrapper, but is in very good condition internally. The more substantial publication - ex-library, with a number of stamps to prelims and edges - covers the years 1879 and 1880, with detailed reports from a number of the worst affected areas, and with 'Letters from the Bishops'.
