AS NEW book, VG+ DJ(in Brodart). Johnson inscribed & SIGNED half title page with a blue felt tipped pen. 1st ed, 4th prntg. DJ with $5 price, extrems with minor wear. Half tp: "To Howard J. Samuels, with best wishes, Lyndonbjohnson". A laid in news artical states Samuels served as undersecretary of Commerce and chief of the Small Business Administration under Johnson. In WWII he had been a colonel in Patton's Third Army. He was an American statesman, industrialist and civil rights activist. He had been an advisor to John F. Kennedy's presidential campaign. Also laid in is a typed note, in FINE condition, from the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, John J. Bailey, stating "The President has personally autographed this copy for you." The book itself is flawless. Very tight, it stays closed when stood on its spine, so likely never been read. DJ front, back and both flaps, clean as new. DJ extrems do have minor wear.
