SCARCE. Mushroom Buckram Cloth Boards with gilt titles to spine, 190 x 135 mm approx, Original publisher's Victorian bible black end papers. [iv] + 214pp. First Edition 1st printing 1890. Caroline Emelia Stephen was the younger sister of Virginia Woolf's father and "Milly's Quakerism is considered by some to have influenced the work of her niece Virginia Woolf who had a copy of this title in her personal library. The work is a "Quaker classic and copies of the first edition are quite scarce. Good (Book- colour rubbing to extremities of cloth boards and some soiling mainly to rear.Gilt titles dulled. Previous owner name and address in pencil to top of half title with subsequent such in ink to bottom of same. Crack to rear end paper, mull holding and binding generally quite sound).
