In original box. Copyright 1920. Stated fifty-sixth edition (Volland called printings as editions). This is actually the first edition 56th printing in the first format they used (with paper spine) for the "Happy Children Books". There is also a gift inscription from February 1924 opposite title page. Pictorial boards are clean and have only light rubs at corners, spine ends and front spine edge. Only one corner is worn through. Hinges are intact. There is one slight signature separation but not loose at all; binding is very firm. Pages are bright and generally clean. There are a few pages with small smudges at bottom edge and one page (last pic) that has a dark smudge in the text. Illustrated throughout with vibrant, full color illustrations from small to full page. The original box (not issued with dj) bottom has two split flaps and so does the top. Top is toned at edges and has light rubs at edges. Overall condition is Very Good / Good (box). Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 000909
