4 Rare and unexplored issues of "The Russ", monthly student magazine of Loos' alma mater. 17-18 year old Loos, later known as a novelist and the most important female screenwriter in Hollywood, contributes 4 short, short fiction stories one in each of 4 issues, from age 17 1/2. Probably her first published works besides her winning short poem/jingle for a floor wax advertising contest at age 8. These works, nor any before 1912, are mention in the text or bibliography of C. Beauchamp and M. A. Loos book Anita Loos Rediscovered which has some focus on her (then) earliest known works, including reproducing some of her Biograph treatments. The issues of "The Russ" for October, 1906 and February, March and April 1907 are unbound and intact. No internal markings. One issue has a messy kid's brown ink smudges and a 1 x 2 cm loss to the corner of the cover, One issue has some moderate acidic transfer probably from a newspaper clipping on the titlepage. a bit of wear at the spine bottoms, still solid VG condition overall. The cover illustration of a young knight is the same on all four issues. The stories are titled: Confided to Peter, The Thousand Dollar Breakfast, On the March from the North, and The Cup. Loos, SDHS Class of 1907, is credited along with 5 other individuals, as Associate Editor on the titlepages. The Russ was a student publication of Stories, Poetry, Drawings, Editorials, Events, Athletics, and Jokes, along with many ads for local goods and services. This era of Loos' life is frequently glossed over, for example, her archive at Harvard University claims no holdings of material before 1912. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers JJJJ08
