Couverture rigide. Zustand: Bon. Edition originale. ; Porter R : Medicine in the Enlightenment, pp. 67-69 : "The most significant propagandist to defend the boundary-breakers was François Quesnay, who published an extremely detailed and lengthy historical defence of the surgeons independence in 1744." ; Gelfand T : Paris surgeons and medical science and institutions in the 18th century, pp. 74-75 : "The historical and critical studies on surgery in France (1744) expressed pride in the fact that surgery demanded both intellectual ability and manual skill." ; Wellman KA : La Mettrie: Medicine, Philosophy, and Enlightenment, pp. 14, 289 : "[Among] several important sources for this history, there is the contemporary account written by the most famous advocate of the surgeons, François Quesnay, 'Recherches critiques et historiques sur les divers états et sur les progrès de la chirurgie en France (Paris, 1744)'." ; Rutkow IM: Surgery: An illustrated history, p. 243 : "François Quesnay and Antoine Louis wrote some of the most devastating polemics against the Paris medical faculty and were at the forefront of the articulation of goals by their surgical peers." ; Vardi L: The Physiocrats and the World of the Enlightenment, pp. 35-36 : "His defense of surgery became famous, and successfully inclined the King to recognize the surgeons new status." © S.A.S.
