Ex library. Thin red cloth binding with black lettering on front and back; the spine cloth is missing. Bumped corners. Small label with library call number taped to base of spine. The text block is firmly attached. Page edges tinted red, with top edges a reddish-gilt. 245 numbered pages, plus 6 pp. of publisher's adverts. No illustrations. The pages are largely clean although with offsetting. Previous owner name in an ink hand to the front FEP. With two library labels affixed to the front pastedown and with a library card pocket affixed to the rear pastedown. The little volume protected by a light poster-board case, including ribbon ties. The case very clean but bears library markings: a call number and a library card pocket. A Fair to Good Minus copy. 12 oz. weight. Évariste Régis Huc [1813 - 1860], C.M., also known as the Abbé Huc, was a French Catholic priest, Lazarite missionary, and traveller. He became famous for his accounts of Qing-era China, Mongolia, and especially the then-almost-unknown Tibet.
