Scarce proper first edition in English of this classic under its original Swedish title, gaining new popularity due to the NYRB reprint. Rode Orm, or The Long Ships was a bestseller when released in Sweden in 1941, and was soon translated for the American market where it did not perform quite as well. In 1954 Michael Heyer translated it for Cape in the UK, where it was a success again. The Heyer translation was used again by NYRB in 2010. Book and jacket are both about very good plus, showing signs of use, but no unforgiveable flaws, jacket is price clipped.
