First French edition, 8vo, pp. [4], xvi, 172; 3 engraved folding maps (of Bligh's route, islands discovered in the Fiji group, and N.E. of Cape York Peninsula, Australia); contemporary full speckled calf, red morocco label on gilt-decorated spine; blindstamped supralibros on upper cover of the Marquis of Stafford, and with his bookplate on the front pastedown; top of spine chipped, front joint starting, extremities rubbed and worn; overall a good copy but internally fine with the maps in a fine state of preservation. Translation of A Narrative of the Mutiny on Board His Majesty's Ship Bounty. London, 1790, by Daniel Lescallier (1743-1822), cartographer, hydrographer and commissioner of the French Navy.
