The first volume is dated only by the Dedication; the second title-page is dated 1631 This edition, which appeared 30 years after Salmuth s translation of Pancirolli s Italian manuscript, contains Salmuth s notes and explications. Salmuth published his mentor s work after Pancirolli died, and, as the preface says, numerous versions with notes were produced in the interim. Salmuth, in the dedication to the first volume, dated January 1629, remarks that these notes were added without consulting him, the editor who had access to Pancirolli s work. This large-format edition supplies Salmuth s references and explications. The engraved title page re-appears on a 1646 . This is the first edition with Salmuth s notes. After the dedication, there are three pages of poetic praise of Pancirolli, Salmuth, and this edition from other prominent scholars. Brunet IV, page 339; Wellcome 4705.
