This brochure was distributed to American soldiers participating in the liberation of the Philippines during World War II. It includes a history of the islands, description of the Philippine culture, introduction to the Tagalog language and other basic information about the islands with a strong slant toward presenting the Filipino people as friends and allies of Americans. There is a bookplate that reads: "The Tenko Collection: Dr. Donna L. Boutelle, Curator" on the inside of the front cover. The brochure's back cover is wrinkled and nearly detached. The whole pamphlet is very clean though the pages and covers are toned (age tanned). Most of the pages are undamaged but a few have a closed edge tear in one of the edges. The front cover has tears along the spine but is not as far along toward detachment as the back cover. A great and scarce artifact from American efforts during World War II.
