First edition thus. Original beige paper covered boards (folded over, as issued), lettering on spine. The first "complete edition" of the House of Life, wonderfully printed by Copeland and Day featuring three borders and 114 initial letters by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue. This copy inscribed by George H. Ellwanger, noted horticulturist, writer and publisher, to William Sharp, friend of Rossetti who had published a record of his life in 1882. Written in neat cursive on front free fly: "To William Sharp, artist of the Beautiful, from G.H.E., Rochester, May, '94." A near fine copy with very minimal wear. Scarce thus.
