Beschreibung
(no dust jacket) [solid copy, moderately shelfworn, some fading to spine cloth, minor spotting on pastedowns, bookseller's stamp on front pastedown, vintage bookseller's label (The Martinsen Library, Santa Barbara CA) on rear pastedown]. The author's first novel, "a selection of The Discoverers," about a New York State farm family. Somewhat in the "Tobacco Road" vein, the book was described by one contemporary critic as "strong meat -- a novel almost wholly concerned with sex and darkened frequently by violence. [The author's] characters are not, to be sure, degenerates, but they are ruled by the same raw necessities of passion with which Caldwell and Faulkner have familiarized us." (Later published in an appropriately trashy paperback edition, under the title "Farm Girl."). Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 15233
