CONTENT DESCRIPTION: The author wrote two well regarded books on Rhode Island regiments; the other being Shot and Shell (history of the 3rd R.I. heavy artillery). In each, the author uses numerous regimental papers, state archives, journals and diaries of officers and men, field reports and other special papers prepared by unit members to tell the regiment's experiences.
