Includes a chapter entitled "Kutenai Indian Names of the Topographical Features of the West Side of Glacier National Park, from Its Southern Boundary North to the Canadian Line." Grey cloth blocked in black with black letters on the front cover and the spine and with a photo pictorial onlay of Sacred Dancing Lake and Old Man Dog Mountain that repeats one of the photos in the book. Just touches of wear to extremities with nothing rubbed through, top and bottom of spine tender, cloth clean, photo onlay in near fine condition, previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown (Sib Parker), all photos present and in fine condition, map is near fine with no separations, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. He operated a fur trading post at Carroll, Montana, and lived among the Pikuni tribe during the period 1880-82. He was given the name Apikuni by the Pikuni chief, Running Crane. Apikuni in Blackfeet means "Spotted Robe." Schultz is most noted for his 37 books, most about Blackfoot life, and for his contributions to the naming of prominent features in Glacier National Park. The book offered here is an authoritative guide to Glacier National Park by one who lived there and knew the Blackfeet intimately.
