Describes "a summer journey I made alone on foot in Spain, earning my living as a wandering minstrel. In Spain, the wandering minstrel has had a long and honoured tradition ever since the Middle Ages when the 'juglar' wandered from castle to castle reciting the epic poems. A 'juglar' may be defined as one who performs before the public whether as rhapsodist, fiddler, ballad-singer, story-teller, juggler or buffon. A modern 'juglar' has to wear a tigher belt and a more ragged coat than in the golden days long ago, but he may still get his eye full as well as his ear full, and as he saunters through the countryside his mind becomes enriched with many a golden sentence and tune." from the Preface.
