UNCORRECTED PROOF COPY, dated December 31st 1948 (the book itself came out in 1949). Original wrapper, rather chipped, binding skewed. Pp 243, followed by one-page publisher s advertisement. Spotlight was published in the US under the title Wicked Uncle. Proof copies of Miss Silver novels are rather rare this is internally unmarked, though a little worn externally. Miss Silver is sometimes regarded an inspiration for Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, but of course Wentworth was successful in her own right.
