Vol. I has [viii] + 104 pages of text and 56 full page photogravures with a full page description for each. Vol. II has [vi] + 114 pages of text and 56 full page photogravures with a full page description for each. The photogravures are printed on heavy weight stock and they are all in good bright condition. Each print has a tissue to protect it. Marbelized end pages. The covers bear the stamp of McGlinchey & Locke, Book Binders, Opp. Old South Church, Boston, so I believe this to be the original binding. "128 Photogravure portraits and scenes from steel plates, and over 400 portraits in the text."
