Including his hunting expedition to Spitzbergen of 1859, where he fished salmon and sharks, hunted walruses, bears, and more. In the present volume, Lamont recounts of his experiences during hunting expeditions, particularly to the Arctic, with details on the weapons used, incidents, the food they ate, their escapes, and more.From the library of Philip Brocklehurst, a known member of the Nimrod expedition in Antarctica of 1907-09 led by Ernest Shackleton, who signed this volume to the recto of the front blank page.Illustrated with a frontispiece and six full page plates, as well as a folding map to the rear. Collated, complete. In a half morocco binding over cloth covered boards, and marbled endpapers and edges. Externally smart with some shelf wear and rubbing to the spine and extremities. With Philip Brocklehurst's bookplate to the front pastedown, who also signed this copy to the recto of the front blank page, dated 1861. Internally, firmly bound. With some minor spotting to the first and last few leaves, otherwise the pages are generally bright and clean.
