A vanishingly scarce, first edition of this exciting work of adventure fiction by T. C. Bridges, under the pseudonym Christopher Beck. The first edition.Bound in the publisher's original pictorial wraps. Very scarce work. Dated from an anthology of the author's works found on The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction, John Flute. Written by French-born author, T. C. Bridges, who lived in the UK from childhood and was particularly known for his boys' fiction, including a number of science-fiction and Lost World adventure tales. Bridges largely wrote under different pseudonyms, including Martin Shaw, John N. Stanton and, as shown through this work, Christopher Beck.In this particular science-fiction adventure, a pair of young lads encounter all sorts of dangerous creatures while on the hunt for treasure. Set under the sea, the murky waters contain carnivorous plants called Hydrozoa, as well as giant, terrifying eels, which also have the ability to come on land. Published as part of the Newnes Adventure Library, by George Newnes publishers.With original advertisements to the paste downs and rear board. Bound in the publisher's original pictorial wraps. Externally, very good, with light edge wear, heavier to the head and tail of the backstrip. A little age toning and scattered spotting to wraps. Rear hinge starting.
