12mo. Two volumes bound in one. First one is Sefer Torat Hayim ve-Ahavat Hesed: 22 leaves. Brown leather board, rubbed. Title of book taped to head of spine. Sefer Torat Hayim deals with laws and customs of visiting the sick, burial and mourning. The second title is Seder Ha-Tefilot, a collection of prayers for visiting to sick. First title first edition, second title not in Bet Eked. Inside front and back cover are ornate woodcut bookplates of previous owner, Solomon B. Freehoff (1892-1990), one of the most important rabbinic scholars of the twentieth century, who taught liturgy and wrote on the history of the responsa genre. On inside of front cover is the signature of Solomon B. Freehoff, dated 1917, two years after he was ordained from Hebrew Union College.Front cover slightly detached from book block. Title page has some Hebrew writing on top margin and middle of page, not affecting text. Stamp in black ink from Hebrew Union College near top margin, not affecting text. An embossed stamp from Hebrew Union College near middle of page. First few pages slightly detached from book block. Leaves 13-22 detached from book block.
