First Edition (first printing). Small 8vo. 78pp. Red boards lettered in blue at the spine. Contemporary former owner name neatly inked to the head of the front free endpaper, and half a dozen small instances of fox spotting to the margins of the rear pastedown. Printed on very slightly substandard economy wartime paperstock, yet still a virtually fine copy in tanned and lightly chafed non-price-clipped dust wrapper. Twenty-five poems, plus eleven extracts from 'The Land'. Three of these poems here make their first bookform appearance, and two others ('September 1939' and 'Dig-Dog') appear in print here for the very first time (contrary to the unaccredited editorial note). 2,500 copies were printed.
