I have retained the original binder's ticket (Westleys of London) on the new endpapers. The author was daughter of Lord Auckland, 19th Century diplomat and one-time Chief Secretary in Ireland, An admirer of Jane Austen, her novel centres on two families of different social class brought together as neighbours.
