Both copies of this book are in very good condition, absolutely no markings, no writing, no inscriptions. Both have their dust jackets which are a bit edge worn with some slight tears on upper front and back. They're both a ** First American edition**. Both include a map of Beleriand, and has an appendix of definitions and translations. This is considered to be Tolkien's most important work as it sets the stage for all his other works. The Lord of the Rings eventually emerged from this book.
