Condition: VG+-NF. 1st edition thus, 2nd impression. 8vo size. 365 pp. Black cloth covers with spine titles and devices in silver, with full-color maps of Beleriand on the front and back endpapers. The 1st edition of The Silmarillion with the fantastic Ted Nasmith illustrations--20 in all, 18 full-color, full-page in text, and 2 full-cover on the front and back of the dustjacket. A few flaws keep this book from Fine condition: slight bumps to the spine head and in the middle front cover, light thumbing through the half-title, some very faint staining on the half-title, and some ghosts of staining on the text block edges. Other than that, the book is fine. The dustjacket has some very light corner wear, but is very bright and clear, as is the text. A gorgeous edition in very good shape. In uncertain economic times, what better way to invest your hard-earned money than in items of lasting value you can hold in hand and enjoy?
