First American edition. An interesting edition, being a salesman's sample volume with applique applied to paste down describing the other titles in the set, the prices of each and so on. As is the case with many such early prospectuses, the binding is subject to poor workmanship; this specific case including two rear boards bound together, effectively sandwiching the rear paste down. Book is near fine minus, showing rubbing, mostly to edges and with some minor internal issues. Octavo, 409 pages, burgundy boards with gold titles. Satisfaction guaranteed.
