It is thought that the one-legged Henley may have inspired Robert Louis Stevenson's character Long John Silver.With an eighteen page publisher's catalogue to the rear, dated 1891.With the bookplate of British writer Arthur Quiller-Couch to the front pastedown. Although a prolific novelist, he is remembered mainly for the publication of 'The Oxford Book of English Verse 1250 1900', and for his literary criticism. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with back strip age toned. Front hinge a touch strained, but firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Stamp to half title head. Internally, firmly bound.
