FIRST EDITION. RARE. A Collection of 14 pamphlets written by Rev. Thomas Spencer, as well as 1 letter addressed TO the Rev. Thomas Spencer by Sir Culling Eardley Smith, Bart and 1 letter written to the Marquess of Cholmondeley by Rev. John Cumming. Thomas Spencer (1796?1853), writer on social subjects, took no share in party politics, but devoted himself with much determination and self-denial to the welfare of the people. He ?was born before his time. He was a reformer in church and state, and he really anticipated some great movements? Thoroughly English, he had an independent mind and great powers of application. A conscientious attention to the appeals of duty and justice was his ruling sentiment. As a churchman he regarded the church as a growth which called for a new reformation from time to time. (WikiSource). Within this edition, pamphlets and letters are NOT numbered sequentially, but are bound in this order as the following: 1)(Un-numbered) "Nonconformity within the Church: A Letter of Expostulation addressed to the Rev.
