The author of this curious work was a Cornell professor of Anglo-Saxon literature, translator of Roman satires, and expert and fan of the work of Robert Browning. This book resulted from a series of seances held at the home of Boston medium Minnie Meserve Soule in 1910 where the spirits of such literary nobles as Browning, his wife Elizabeth, Hawthorne, Longfellow, Tennyson and Gladstone made their "appearance". A scarce book. A very good copy with some light soiling to the covers and some rubbing and fading to the spine. The text is remarkably fresh for its age and has some light soiling and wear.
