CONDITION DESCRIPTION: VG in contemporary boards with replaced spine (looks like 19th Century) with printed paper label. Well worn on edges. Front hinge has been repaired with archival tissue. Engraved half title present, other endpapers missing. Interior is clean. EX-LIBRARY COPY - Title page has library's perforating stamp, pg I has inked number and small rubber stamp. Else the interior pages only have some age browning. CONTENT DESCRIPTION: John Halkett was Selkirk's son-in-law. This is the first published edition, revised and enlarged from his privately circulated "Statement" earlier in 1817. This is essentially a defense of Selkirk against the violence of the North West Company at the Red River Settlement and the killing of settlers.
