[a nice tight clean book, with just a slight bump to the top right corner; jacket colorful and attractive, with only some mild abrasions at top of spine]. (line drawings) This showbiz romance about "Benny Darrell and Flo Sloane, two 'hoofers' who are transported by sudden success from a cheap Broadway theatrical hotel to a country place on Long Island, is a tale of their adventures in society." Markey was an author, screenwriter and producer who was a popular Hollywood figure in the 1930s and 1940s -- so popular, in fact, that he managed to marry not one, not two, but three gorgeous actresses in succession: Joan Bennett, Hedy Lamarr and Myrna Loy. He also served with some distinction in the U.S. Navy during World War II, eventually rising to the rank of Rear Admiral.
