Special edition, limited to 2,479 copies of this "best of" selection of Stevensonisms, published immediately following the governor's sudden death in 1965, culled largely from "The New York Times." This special copy belonged to the governor's son, Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. Senator from Illinois (1969-81). Long-time Harper & Row president and chairman Cass Canfield (1897-1986), also a long-time supporter of Governor Stevenson who worked on his 1956 presidential campaign, sent this copy to Senator Stevenson -- his small engraved calling card is still paper clipped to the front flyleaf.
