First edition of this biography with a personal and intimate look at Walt Disney's life, career, and character. Octavo, original half cloth, illustrated with forty-nine black and white photographs that have rarely or never been published. Boldly signed by Walt Disney on the half-title page and signed by Diane Disney Miller on the the front free endpaper. Diane was the daughter and only biological child of Walt Disney and his wife Lillian Bounds Disney. She co-founded the Walt Disney Family Museum alongside her family and was president of the Board of Directors of the Walt Disney Family Foundation. Fine in a near fine dust jacket. Rare and desirable signed by both. American entrepreneur, animator, and film producer Walt Disney is arguably the most important figure in the history of animation. A national cultural icon, his innovative spirit and vision revolutionized the genre of animated cartoons, making them a major part of mainstream popular entertainment. Founded as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio in 1923 and incorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929, Walt Disney Animation Studios has produced 57 feature films. For much of its existence, the studio was recognized as the premier American animation studio; it developed many of the techniques, concepts and principles that became standard practices of traditional animation.
