Clark Heinrich presents an intriguing investigation into the elusive philosopher's stone of medieval alchemy. Carl Jung spent over half his life trying to indentify this mythic stone - the means of achieving nirvana, seeing God, and the path to all understanding. Jung ultimately concluded that no such stone or elixir existed. Clark Heinrich presents in "Strange Fruit" why Jung was wrong. In this wide ranging quest, Clark Heinrich reaches back thousands of years to ancient Inida and examines references, textual and visual, or artistic. Heinrich breaks down the Vedic and Puranic myths and icons explaining their arcane messages and interprets the symbology. He identifies similarities between Vedic and Tantric cults and then contemporaneous Jewish sects. An elixir is traced from its appearance in the Garden of Eden from Moses to the prophets up through to Jesus, and the Gnostics. The secrets were kept alive and passed through a shepherdic conspiracy. Heinrich proceeds to the cult of chivalry and the mystical quest for the Holy Grail; the cup said to have held Christ's blood, and finally, to the alchemists with Jesus as their stone. "Strange Fruit" is the result of many years of active research, field work and intuited reasoning. Many have sought meaning in the symbols, a key to it all, and truth beyond metaphor. Only now have the myths and religions been drawn together in a single mosaic providing a remarkable revelation. Printed in Great Britain by Butler and Tanner, Ltd., Frome and London. 212 pages.
