First Edition, First Printing that is also a Review Copy of J. Edgar Hoover's Cold War look at the treacheries of Communists in the United States. This copy has interesting inserts and previous owner connections. One insert is J. Edgar Hoover's calling card. This is a 3-1/4" by 1-1/2" white card stock item with "J. Edgar Hoover" printed at the center in slightly raised black letters. The second insert is a business card size Review Copy statement from Holt Rinehart Winston. The card notes October 1, 1962 as the official publication date. The book also has previous owner designations from two important national security officials in the Cold War era. One previous owner name is inked on the front endpaper. D.M. Abshire (David) who was a founder of the Center for Strategic and International Studies at Georgetown University and a top national security official in the Reagan Administration with Ambassador to NATO among his positions. The same page also carries an ownership stamp from Ray Cline who was a top CIA official in the early 1960s and later director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. 212 pages, black cloth. Minimal signs of reading wear but has a 1/4" by 3" stain near the center of the fore edge that is present on both covers of the book and dust jacket and on both front and back endpapers.
