Beschreibung
A publisher's presentation copy of the scarce first English translation of Joseph Delmont's thrilling novel about an undersea community built by German U-boat crews. The scarce first UK edition of this work, in the very scarce original unclipped dust wrapper.Stamped 'with the publisher's compliments' to the title page. This novel by Austrian film director and author Karl Pyck, who published under the name Joseph Delmont, was first published in the original German in 1925 under the title 'Die Stadt unter dem Meer'.Delmont's tale is about German survivors from the First World War who develop secret weapons in submarine caves off the Ligurian coast. With an eight page catalogue to the rear, dated 1930.Locke describes the work as about 'a group of German U-boats and their crews who build an undersea community, and in due course, menace the world'. Locke notes that Delmont's fantasy titles are '"extremely elusive". In the publisher's original cloth binding, and price unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent. Significant spotting to text block fore edge. Dust wrapper age toned. Edgewear and minor chipping to dust wrapper back strip head and tail, with significant closed tear to back strip tail. Front wrap bright. Tape repair to dust wrapper reverse at head of back strip, and to fold over front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, and generally clean, with the odd spot. Very Good Indeed. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 903F17
