Very poor condition. First edition, third printing - with the year 1928 at the bottom of the title page. The book measures approximately 7.75" x 5.25", with 259 numbered pages. Comes with a brand new facsimile (reproduction) dust jacket for protection and display. This book is in very poor condition. Ex-library copy. Very heavy wear and cloth loss to the original black cloth boards. Gilt labels are very worn, the spine label is no longer legible. Both boards nearly detached. Front endsheets and title page are literally hanging by one thread, and should be treated as detached. The title page cannot be viewed because it is permanently affixed to the half title page. We found the 1928 date at the bottom of the title page by shining a light through the back of the page. Final page of text is loose and chipped. "The Sun Also Rises" by Ernest Hemingway follows a group of young American and British expatriates as they wander through Europe in the mid 1920s. This book has been called his greatest work and most important novel. Please view the many other rare titles available for purchase at our store. Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. Paris in the twenties: Pernod, parties and expatriate Americans, loose-living on money from home. Jake is wildly in love with Brett Ashley, aristocratic and irresistibly beautiful, but with an abandoned, sensuous nature that she cannot change. When the couple drifts to Spain to the dazzle of the fiesta and the heady atmosphere of the bullfight, their affair is strained by new passions, new jealousies, and Jake must finally learn that he will never possess the woman he loves. Powerful, intense and magnificent, Fiesta is the novel which established Ernest Hemingway as a writer of genius, and set him on the way to being one of the greatest literary novelists of the twentieth century. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers GOR001285000
