First edition, deluxe issue. 12mo. Blue moiré cloth with gilt stamped decoration and colour onlay to the upper cover. All edges gilt. A very good copy, which has occasional looseness between sections and the odd finger mark. Pictorial endpapers. Colour frontis and colour plates throughout by the author. In 1904 Warne asked Beatrix Potter to provide a design for a deluxe edition of her new book, and a small number were produced in a fine, silk moiré cloth, the page edges gilded and the design to the covers embossed in gilt. These deluxe copies sold at the higher price of 1/6-, rather than the usual 1/- for the standard paper covered copies. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 33685
