Two very scarce auction catalogues from the start of the twentieth century. They depict the sale of the collections of Rembrand and Marczell de Nemes. The first edition of these two catalogues, in the original paper wraps. The catalogues are for Frederik Muller and Co art auction house and antique shop, which was on the Niewe Doelenstraat 16-18 in Amsterdam. Both are published by the direction of Ant W M Mensing for the executors of each will. Both volumes are in the original French. 'Tableaux de la Colection-Six' contains the sale information at the start, which includes the viewings. A prior owner has written the sale price of each item to the margin, in a contemporary hand. There are sixty-six items to this auction, which was the sixth collection driven by the executor of the estate. There are 50 Old Master Duch School paintings, etchings and drawings to this work. With twenty one plates to the Rembrandt volume and one hundred and two plates to the Marczell de Nemes volume. The 'Collection Marczell de Nemes' catalogue contains examples of his tapestry paintings, limoges, bronzes and much more. Marczell Nemes was a Hungarian financier, art collector and art dealer. This is an extensive catalogue of his collection. Several of the plates to this volume has the sold price written in pencil to the margins. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart. A few light marks to both volumes. Loss to the rear wrap of the Rembrandt volume. Prior owner's inscription to the front wrap of the Rembrandt volume. Loss to the front and rear wraps of the Marczell de Nemes volume. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are very bright. Prior owner's inscription to the margins of the Rembrandt catalogue, indicating the sold price. Tissue guards are folded to both volumes. The Rembrandt volume retains all tissue guard, whereas the Marczell volume is lacking the tissue guards to several plates, but the plates remain very bright. Minor loss to the bottom of the Half title to 'Marczell de Nemes' volume. The occasional light spots to pages. Good. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 707L3
