Erste Ausgabe. - "The work of the miracles of the four elements has the alternative title, Historical Temple of Nature, and is largely drawn from antiquated authors. Not only are the elements still four, but comets are still exhalations in the supreme region of air. Tides, however, are attributed to the moon. According to the tradition of the Magi, there are three kinds of spiritual beings: supercelestial who are very close to God, celestial intelligences for the spheres and stars, and demons for each of the four elements. There are also fiery men and aerial men, and four animals who feed on a single element: the mole on earth, the 'alec' on water, the chameleon on air, and the salamander nourished on fire. Besides miracles of each element, there are alphabetical treatments of birds, quadrupeds, mountains, bodies of water, forests, gardens, trees, herbs, flowers, fruits, cities, temples, towers, bridges, and so on passing from the realm of nature to that of art" (Thorndike). - Der aus Kirchhain in Hessen stammende Kornmann (1579-1628), ein Jurist und Polyhistoriker, verhalf durch sein Werk "Mons Veneris" dem Brocken als Hexenberg zu großer Popularität. - Der Benzing unbekannte Drucker J. J. Porssius in Darmstadt müsste nach Benzings Datierung der zweite Drucker der Stadt sein. - Exlibris. Stellenweise etwas gebräunt.
