The first edition of this scarce work on Egyptian Agriculture. Written and published during the British occupation of Egypt, this work is penned by a selection of scholars regarding crop growing in Egypt. Being volume II only. Volume II of this work was issued two years following the first volume. To the preface the editors note that this was 'owing to quite uncontrollable circumstances'. Volume II begins with chapter IX on Farm Seeds and reaches its conclusion at chapter XVI on Dairying. With chapters on fruit, vegetables, pests, and rotation of crops. Edited by G P Foaden, the Secretary-General of the Khedivial Agricultural Society, Cairo and F Fletcher the Principal of the School of Agriculture Cairo. Issued as a commission by the Ministry of Education Egypt, under the department of Agriculture and Technical Education. With eleven plates to the rear, as called for. From the library of Frederic Newhouse (1883-1969), sometime inspector-general of Egyptian irrigation in the Sudan. With his contemporary inscription to the recto of front endpaper. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Patches of rubbing to the joints and extremities. Light rubbing to the spine. Contemporary inscription to the recto of front endpaper, F Newhouse. Internally, binding is weak at pages 528-529 due to a split and may fully detach with further handling.
