Irish novelist Maurice Walsh (1878-1964) wrote light-hearted and popular works based upon real-life characters he knew in County Kerry; perhaps his most famous work was a short-story that became the basis for John Ford's cinematic hymn to Ireland, "The Quiet Man." Many of his works were first serialized in "Chamber's Journal." Originally published in 1941, this is a Very Good copy of the Third Printing. Light yellow cloth binding with black lettering on the spine. Clean text; 351 pages. Previous-owner signature on the front paste-down. Light soiling, endpapers typically foxed. The dustwrapper, of stiff cardstock, is unclipped, with a great, evocative illustration. Very little wear; small closed tear on rear panel. In an archival plastic protector.
