Beschreibung:

Slight shelf wear to jacket. Internally fresh and clean. " I little thought" wrote Dorothy Parker at the close of her lengthy review of Tippy Locklin in the columns of Esquire that I should ever go on like this over a book about a small boy, especially one named Tippy. But here I am ,and naked of apologies". Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 001118

Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition. It's been a long time since a dust jacketed copy of the true First Edition (an English first edition was published in 1961) of this book has been listed for sale. I know that because I've owned the book for a long time and kept an eye on new listings. There are currently no other dust jacketed copies of this 1960 first edition for sale anywhere on the Internet. In fact there are no first editions for sale anywhere on the Internet, dust jacket or not. There is one Little, Brown, and Company copy without a dust jacket that is selling for $200.00. So if you've been waiting for this opportunity the day has come. I have taken very good care of this book, as you can see from the photographs provided. The orange covers are spotless. There isn't any wear on any of the edges. The lettering on the spine is very bright. The worst that can be said is that there is a little wrinkling at the spine ends and a very light crease at the bottom right-hand corner of the front cover. And this 386 page book is very solidly bound, no issues in that regard. It is also very clean. I don't believe there are any instances of soiling on any of the pages, including the inside covers and endpapers. Nor are there any creases or dogeared corners. No markings. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the extremely rare dust jacket in the first few photographs. I've always had it in a protective cover. The jacket is quite clean. It does have a 1 3/8th inch thin tear at the juncture of the front and spine and a 1 1/2 inch thin tear at the juncture of the spine and rear cover. Both tears come up from the bottom edge. As you can see they are hardly visible in the protective cover. They would be more visible without it. There is also a light pen jag on the front cover near to the bottom edge and another one on the rear cover adjacent to the spine. There is a 1 inch tear off the bottom edge of the rear cover and a light spot of soiling adjacent to it. There are a couple of very tiny bits of loss around the top of the spine. The flaps are in very good condition, clean and not worn. The dust jacket is NOT price-clipped, no clips at all. On the rear flap the publisher describes the book as 'like slowly emptying a grab bag filled with surprises. The laughter, warmth and love that fill the book will remain in the reader's memory long after he has turned the last page.' The brilliant Dorothy Parker whose objectivity might be better trusted wrote of Tippy Locklin in her Esquire review 'They are fascinating characters, as caught forever by Mr. Meagher. I little thought that I should ever go on like this over a book about a small boy, especially one named Tippy. But here I am, and all naked of apologies'. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 001629
