The first edition of this uncommon work.Fascinating first-hand uncencorsed letters by Frederick Arthur MacKenzie, covering his experiences during the Russo-Japanese War, from January 1904 to April 1905. The author wrote these whilst he was a war correspondent for the 'Daily Mail'.Illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, and twenty-one plates.Collated, complete.MacKenzie was a noted Canadian journalist, one of the few Western journalists to cover the Russo-Japanese War, and the Korean resistance against Japan during the Japanese occupation. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with marks and discolouration to the boards and spine, including some small damp stains. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Front board is a little faded. Internally, generally firmly bound.
