Volume 1 contains 300 pages and Volume 2 has 311 pages, followed by a 12-page catalog of other works published by Smith, Elder & Co. Boards are original blind stamped, dark orange cloth, with gilt lettering on spine. Boards and pages are clean, unmarked (no writing, marks, or bookplates found at all), bright, tightly bound (except for beginning cracking of hinge in front of title page in vol. 1) and sharp cornered (except for some light wear at spine edges).
