Stated First Edition. You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They're very clean. The edges and corners are in very good shape. The silver lettering on the spine is bright. There's just a little crinkling at the spine ends. The top page edge is orange. The page edges are clean. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages and nicely tight covers as well. The pages are exceptionally clean. I'm not finding any soiling. There are no turned-down corners or placeholder creases. I found three consecutive pages with a thin, minor crease off their top edge. There are no markings. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The illustrations, by William Sharp, are all in excellent condition. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It is in solid condition. It has one very small tear off both the top and bottom edge of the rear cover. There's also little crinkling at the front and rear top corners and a little wear at the top edge of the spine. The white lettering on the spine is quite faded. The flaps are in solid shape, one little nick at the front top edge. All four corners have tucking-in clips, but the price is unaffected. The jacket will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the dust jacket: 'Here are twelve stories of twelve people who can truly be called citizens of the world, set in a book that is as exciting as the work they did. Albert Schweitzer, Ralph Bunche, Pierre Ceresole, Mahatma Gandhi, Toyohiko Kagawa, Fridtjof Nansen, John Boyd Orr, Eleanor Roosevelt, Domingo Sarmiento, Sun Yat-sen, Arturo Toscanini, and Mathilda Wrede-- an illustrious roster of hard-working men and women who contributed something to the creation of a world community of peace and justice. These are vivid and graphic biographies of pioneers in a new world, great personalities who have helped to shape a better future for our society, each in his own calling-- a farmer, a musician, an explorer and diplomat, a doctor, a social worker, an educator, and others. They are thrilling stories for readers of any age. William Sharp, whose portrait-illustrations proclaim his own admiration and understanding of these great personalities, has known and sketched many of them while on newspaper assignments. His work has recently appeared in Life and Collier's magazines.'. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 004325
