The twenty-seventh annual reports of inspections performed in prisons in the southern and midland counties of Britain, presented to both Houses of Parliament by command of Her Majesty. The reports note the number of prisoners, the number of cells, and the customs and conditions of each prison, with mentions of individual prisoners, their crimes and length of internment. A letter at the start of each report on the southern and then the midland districts, by John G. Perry and Herbert P. Voules respectively, provides an overview of the successes and failures of the prison system. Disbound but intact. Externally, fairly smart, with remnants of the binding to the spine.
