A fine copy in a very near fine dustwrapper, which is notably bright with just a small nick to the lower joint and light wear to the spine ends and corners. Three bookplates to the front endpapers, including those from the notable collections of Paul Lemperly and Estelle Doheny. Under Western Eyes is the last book in the astonishing sequence of novels that constituted Conrad's major literary output, beginning with The Nigger of the "Narcissus" (1897), taking in Lord Jim, Youth, Typhoon, Nostromo and The Secret Agent. "With Under Western Eyes he even dared to challenge (and arguably surpassed) Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment" (ODNB). Notably rare in any dustwrapper, particularly one so well preserved.
