1954. First edition. ix, 147pp., numerous black and white and some colour illustrations. Foreword by F.A.R. Stammers. This work on ulcerativer colitis was written for both the physician and surgeon. The author, Bryan Nicholas Brooke (1915-1998) was a British surgeon and pioneer of surgery for ulcerative colitis. Bound in the original dark blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine, the book is in very good condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The free endpapers are browned with some light foxing. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and some staining around the bottom front corner and bottom 2 1/2" of ther front spine edge.
